The goal for this assignment to to create images that utilize the elements and principles of design. Images should contain minimal information and focus on specific element and principles.
For this assignment, several elements of design as well as principles of design will be used to complete the project.
Elements: line, shape, form, space, color, texture
Principles: balance, proportion, perspective, emphasis, movement, pattern, repetition, rhythm, variety, harmony, unity.
Minimalism began in post-World War II Western art, most strongly with American visual arts in the 1960s and early 1970s. Prominent artists associated with minimalism include Donald Judd, John McCracken, Agnes Martin, Dan Flavin, Robert Morris, Anne Truitt, and Frank Stella.
Frank Wright once said: “Simplicity and repose are the qualities that measure the true value of any work of art “. Basically this means that the simpler a piece of work is and the more clutter-free it is, the more influential and valuable it becomes.
